Ought to Know Your With Me Hate ' Hate Bring Me Round Superhero Great Balls of Fire Something's Gotta Give Dead and Gone Love Machine |
Quite possibly the biggest gig Alcohol have ever been asked to play! Tonight saw Alcohol supporting Oi Punk legends The Gonads (featuring Garry Bushell on vocals and various punk legends including Manic Esso from The Lurkers). Also on the bill Resistance 77 and The Apocalypse Babies.
Seeing as this was clearly a punk night, Alcohol dropped every song they considered to be a bit slow, and kept the set going as 150mph. They open the night and didn't dissapoint, one old school punk didn't move from the front of the stage whilst Alcohol played - although he thought "Superhero" was a big prog rock - ha! Bless him.
A great night, and saw the last gig of the year for Alcohol and became their christmas party - so the boys got very very drunk. The night culminated in Jack Daniels and kebabs. The sign of greatness.

PIRATE NIGHT! Kevs 40th birthday party saw Alcohol headline along with PAM, Diver and El Draco and the Pieces Of Hate. 3 great bands and a fantastic party atmosphere.
Alcohol headlined the night and Kev requested a few alcohol songs so Alcohol played Claire 2 for the first time in a long time, and This I Know from Tonys album for Kev. Also brand new ska-punk-sicko song "The Family" was debuted which went down really well!
All in all a great night, and the crowd didn't want Alcohol to get off the stage and after 2 encores the night finally ended and the boys got drunk! Yay!

Ste organised tonights gig for Children In Need, and had various events going off all night. After shaving his head, Ste joined Alcohol on stage sporting a rather funky Billy Corgan look that scared the rest of the band.
Alcohol threw in lots of covers for tonights gig, including a new cover of Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles, fully gothed up for the occastion. Other covers included 20th Century Boy, Paranoid, Great Balls Of Fire, Johnny B Goode and of course Love Machine.
The night went really well and over 500 was raised for charity!

Well its that time again! Battle Of The Bands 2007 at the Town Mill. Its the fifth anniversary year at the Mill and although the boys weren't bothered about doing anymore BOTBs, they came back for this one at the request of the Mill.
This years heat sees Alcohol "do battle with" El Cielo (metal), Alone We Break (shouty shouty cry cry) and Johnny Park (rock rock go home straight after the set). An ok selection of bands, the best clearly being El Cielo - technical metal - and were the eventual winners of the night.
Alcohol include the new song "Superhero" in the set and they still believe that it WOULD make a great theme tune for Heroes - listen up Tim Kring! A great night, and Tony got to show off his new T Shirt he got in Chicago!

Oughta Know You're With Me Bad Guys Is It Real? Super Hero Bring Me Round Somethings Gotta Give Drowning Dead & Gone Love Machine |
This was a welcoming return to Alcohol's home ground, the Town Mill. After a short break after Ste's wife giving birth to there second child Oliver Luke Cripwell, the band were back with a vengeance, even though it was Friday the 13th. The band had been asked to open the night, followed by the Strafes, Starscreen and Geoff Carling. Cory started the gig with an extended version on the drums to Ought to Know and then the boy's were ready. The gig as per norm, started at a high pace and carried on through out the set. After a small speech from Tony, the crowd were introduced to Alcohol's brand new wannabe hero's theme tune, Super Hero. The band seemed to pull this off especially as they had not played it in a month. The gig carried on again with pace, even though Tony had a few technical problems. The gig was a success and even with a very receptive small crowd, Alcohol believe this to be one of there best gigs to date. Thanks to all who came and thanks to Chall for providing a good sound on stage.

Intro Bad Guys Oughta Know You're With Me Is It Real? This I Know Chain Smokin' Gypsy Somethings Gotta Give Great Balls Of Fire Requiem Condition I Don't Wanna Rock Drowning Dead & Gone Encore: Love Machine |
Blimey for the bands 50th gig, Alcohol returned to the Town Mill for their own night. Alcohol invited Flying Blind On A Rocket Cycle and PAM to join them on this momentous of occasions.
After great sets from Flying Blind and PAM, Alcohol came onstage to the sounds of Pagey playing keyboard and Karley whacking the drums! Alcohol tonight were dressed as gangsters so what else could they start the night with but Bad Guys from Bugsy Malone!
Seeing as it was a Town Mill gig and they were headlining, Alcohol changed things about a bit and took a few risks. The first of which is that they'd arranged with PAM to cover a PAM song (and PAM covered Break Down by Alcohol), so the boys opted for Chain Smokin' Gypsy which saw PAM rush to the front of the stage and watch the band likes hawks!!!
Next, Mario (drummer from PAM) joined Alcohol on stage and replaced Cory for a version of Somethings Gotta Give - this went really well! Pagey then joined the boys on stage for the next 3 songs, the first of which was a cover of the classic Great Balls Of Fire which Ste sang! The next two songs Karley Otter came onstage for, they were 2 songs from Tony's album (recorded in Jan) - the epic Requiem and the duet Condition!. The band finished off the night with Drowning and Dead & Gone, but the crowd wouldn't let them leave until they played Love Machine which Karley supplied vocals for!
Thanks to everyone that came down!!!

Oughta Know Hate & Hate You're With Me Is It Real? Bring Me Round Bad Guys Something's Gotta Give Drowning Dead & Gone Love Machine |
Alcohol's first gig of 2007 and their first out of town gig with the current line up! Where else would they play but the most famous club in the world - The Cavern Club in Liverpool! You know, liverpool, beatles and all that! Saturday night at The Cavern proves it to be as good as the hype suggests it would be, in the bar area it looks exactly how the cavern looked (this is the new cavern - the original was demolished), and all day they have people playing covers in the bar. The stage area is in the back and is a fantastic area with some great equipment.
The sound guy asked Alcohol if they'd go on first, which the boys were happy about as they love going on first and gave them more time for the post show partying! Alcohol opened up with new song "Oughta Know" which they'd only been playing for a couple of weeks, after that the band were on more familiar ground with songs like "Hate & Hate", "Is It Real?" and "Drowning". Tony came off stage with his hand dripping with blood from playing so hard!
The band really enjoyed playing this gig, the sound out front was very impressive and the sound guy did a fantastic job! Thanks to everyone who travelled to come down and support the band, you are all fucking awesome people!

Hate and Hate You're With Me Be Is it Real I Listen To My Heart Too Much Bring Me Round Bad Guys Something's Gotta Give T & A Hard to Take Drowning Dead and Gone |
After a couple of months break in gigs, Alcohol were back at the Intake with Agent Straker and Flying Blind On A Rocket Cycle. Tonight was Agent Strakers last gig!
Tonight the boys chose to do a little bit of a longer set than usual doing 12 songs, the set was changed around slightly to experiment a bit. You're with me which is a normal closer for the band was played second tonight, and the band chose to end on Dead & Gone - which seemed to be an excellent closer! New song "Bring Me Round" made its debut tonight, the band reckon its about one minute long but can't be arsed to time it!!!
The boys were really happy with how they played tonight and massive thanks to Agent Straker and Flying Blind On A Rocket Cycle for an enjoyable night!!!
Kev from Agent Straker/GIGGED did the following review:
"First on was Alcohol, armed with a few new songs and a borrowed amp.
I have seen the Alcodudes a few times now and this was the best that Ive seen em play, cool as fcuk. Sometime the first band on kinda take time to get in to the swing of things but not Alcohol, oh no, high tempo fast punky rock like hanging onto a CR 500 crosser with the throttle full open, if your into bikes, you'll know what i mean. One of the new tunes, although it is a good song, sort of reminded me of a cross between placebo & muse (which I'm not that keen on) but maybe its a change of direction music style for the band?
i was a bit gutted that they played the cover that no fuckers heard of and left out the entertaining girls aloud song but shit happens ;D
All in all, a great performance and well worth checking out."

Hate and Hate Dead and Gone Is it Real Bad Guys Be Something's Gotta Give Free Drowning Hard to Take Love Machine |
This is the first time the boys had played at this venue in Mansfield and was quite impressed with the set up, we we're playing with Black Box Diaries and Pam. Alcohol we're on second tonight and the set started with the infamous Hate and Hate, which came to quick stop. There was something strange happening with Ste's bass. Not all the notes played were coming through the on stage monitors and Tony's vocal monitor was feeding back. But the guys carried on and with the technical difficulties managed to pull it off. The set started with pace and with a short slow down it picked straight up and finished on a high. Will the alcohol Love Machine era ever come to an end!!! (Only you can decide). Thanks to Pam for asking us to play and thanks to the sound guy who kept coming up to the stage and writing notes checking whether we we're alright (And yes we we're)!!!!!!! Oh and a big shout out to Kirk, who keeps on coming.

Hate & Hate Dead & Gone Blister In The Sun Butterfly T & A |
Right, its official. Tony is insane. Tony played an acoustic set today at an acoustic day down at the Townmill.
It was a really nice day with some great acoustic sets from Alice Rock, Star Screen, For This Day, The Jesus Effect and other great bands. Oh and Tony also played!
Tony had to rush off early so he only played a short set starting off with a couple of Alcohol songs (including the new song Dead & Gone which was played acoustic for the first time), he then played a cover of the Violent Femmes song Blister In The Sun (which he sings in The Chavs) and then he played a cover of the Abiotic song Butterfly which was requested by Dobson who wrote it! Tony ended on the ode to strippers "T & A" which ended the set on a lighter note.

The last day of "Summer In The Streets", a summer long collection of events. Today's gig was a "Spotlight on local talent" day which focused on artists from around the Mansfield area.
Alcohol opened up the day, and were scheduled to go on at 10am but the event was late starting so Alcohol got on stage about 10:10am, and was asked to do a shorter set to keep the day running on time which the boys were happy to do.
The set was cover heavy today to keep it light and recognisable by the general public who hung around and watched the band play. It was an enjoyable gig and big thanks to the organisers!

Alcohol back at the Black Market with Diver, Lost For Words, The Drains and Armstrong (the headliners).
Tony decided tonight he was a priest and got smited! Alcohol went on second tonight and kicked things off with Hate & Hate but technical problems kicked in by the 3rd song when Tony's microphone stopped working and in a moments of panic Tony and Ste had to swap sides of the stage so Tony could use Ste's microphone. This meant the set had to be rearranged because Tony didn't have access to his guitar pedals and neither did Ste!
The sound man sorted the microphone out after a couple of songs (he had to solder a new lead! Which he did in record time considering!) The boys ended on Love Machine which was requested by Christof (who also took some pics for the band!)

Tony's Set T & A Hate & Hate Butterfly Bad Guys Ste's Set Drowning 20th Century Boy Behind Blue Eyes From Paris To Berlin... Morning Glory |
A last minute acoustic set for 2/3rds of Alcohol for a charity gig organised by our very own Ste. Tony did a solo set and then Ste did a solo set tonight, and halfway through the boys joined forces to do an acoustic version of Drowning.
Tony tonight had a couple of requests for the Alcohol songs "T & A" and "Hate & Hate", he then played his cover of "Butterfly" by Abiotic and then finished off with the Bugsy Malone classic "Bad Guys", then Ste joined him for an acoustic version of "Drowning".
Ste then played his set by starting off with the T-Rex classic "20th Century Boy", then "Behind Blue Eyes" by The Who, then a fantastic version "From Paris To Berlin" by some dance group (we always knew Ste was a dance kid at heart!) and then Ste finished his set with the Oasis song "Morning Glory".

Alcohol were back today for the Frog's "Days of fire" festival, 3 days of music over 2 stages. Judging by the state of a few of the regulars we'd say it was quite successful!
The band stuck to the same set from Grantham on friday and yet again played the new cover "Bad Guys" which people just don't seem to recognise as being from Busgy Malone, dammit! Love Machine was requested tonight by Kev (from Agent Straker) which would have made a more or less mistakefree set if it wasn't for Tony completly messing the intro up!
It was bleeding hot and thanks to the people who hung around to watch Alcohol, and thanks to Roach for organising the day.

Alcohol's first gig at The Malt Shovel in Grantham should have been with The Apocalypse Babies and Flying Blind On A Rocket Cycle, but unfortuanately those bands couldn't play - so Dobson and Ellis from Abiotic stepped in to play an acoustic set along with Alcohol's normal noisy set!
Tonight went well and Alcohol tried out their new cover of "Bad Guys" from Bugsy Malone which they recently learnt. This seemed to go down relatively well, with a few people recognising the song, ha!
Special thanks to the drunk guy who sat at the front and heckled us - you made our night, you were great and your love for Cory will not be forgotten...

Alcohol's 2nd gig at the Black Market alongside The Dirty Lips and Fight Scene saw Alcohol headlining the night, and it was a quiet affair! It was a shame the other bands didn't stick around at the end of the night to watch the set.
Low turn out tonight but Alcohol enjoyed themselves as always, Tony took a few pictures on stage between songs and some of the people there did an impromptu table dance for the boys - but thats not as good as it sounds!
Be made an appearance in the set tonight for the first time in a while, and it went well - it was also the only relatively slow number in tonights set!

Hard To Take Dead & Gone Hate & Hate Is It Real? T & A I'm Free Something's Gotta Give Drowning You're With Me Love Machine |
Back at the Mill, Alcohol's home ground! Alcohol played tonight with Axminister Scotchguard and The Numbskulls, The Derranged and Weeble, on a Punk night organised by Shock & Awe.
Alcohol tried a different set tonight and moved things about a bit, and attempted to do 10 songs in 30 minutes - did they do it?
It was a high energy set tonight which kicked off with "Hard To Take" and then into new song "Dead & Gone". Alcohol threw in "T & A" midset to break up the set a little (and give Cory a rest), the song was used on the Shock & Awe myspace page to promote the gig. After "T & A" the fast songs kicked back in and Cory started getting lightheaded and nearly passed out towards the end of the set - it was THAT fast! Alcohol ended on their cover of "Love Machine" by Girls Aloud which saw Tony drop to his knees on the guitar solo... the weirdo!
Thanks to all that ventured out on a Thursday night! Thanks also to Mike for taking pics and for filming Alcohol's set - hopefully some of that footage will be online soon, check the videos/live section. Also thanks to Kirk for taking pics, some of which can be seen below. Oh and did the band do 10 songs in 30 minutes? Too fucking right they did.

Claire 2 Break Down Hate & Hate Is It Real? T & A Something's Gotta Give Drowning Hard To Take Dead & Gone |
Alcohol's first gig in Chesterfield saw them at The Green Rooms in Chesterfield a nice little rockers type pub with a venue room upstairs. The gig was organised by Starscreen, and South Parade also played (from Grimsby).
Whilst working on the new album Alcohol has brought back an old song, Claire 2, which will be featured on the album and so tonight the boys started on it! In all the haste of getting to Chesterfield the boys had forgotten to do a set list, so Tony just shouted songs out.
There was a request tonight for T & A so the boys squeezed it in between Is It Real and Somethings Gotta Give. T & A seems to be a common request and a bit of a favourite for people, the boys will try and keep that in mind for future gigs!
Thanks to Starscreen for the invite, its always good to play with you guys and to get out of Mansfield for once!

Break Down Hate & Hate Is It Real? I Listen To My Heart Too Much Something's Gotta Give Drowning Hard To Take Dead & Gone Love Machine |
Alcohol's debut gig at the black market alongside Of All Things, Diver and Dragster. Tony can't seem to stop himself coughing, but fret not - he's armed with Buttercup syrup, wow that guy truely is rock and roll.
It's been a while since Alcohol started with Break Down, so tonight they did! Tony rearranged the set slightly because at the last two gigs his voice went midset because of his cold. The set went really well apart from I Listen To My Heart Too Much, on the first chorus Tony's pedals died and his guitar went off, the band had to stop playing whilst Tony fixed them - Ste very nearly got to tell his turtle joke, but luckily enough for the crowd, Tony fixed the pedals in time! Tony was also seen drinking his Buttercup syrup between songs, come on everyone lets say "Ahhhhhhhh" (other cough syrups are available.... heh)
A big hello to the girl in the crowd who was singing along to Hard To Take, you even knew the words! We salute you! Alcohol ended on their cover of Love Machine by Girls Aloud, it seemed the right venue for it and the crowd certainly danced to it!
A massive thanks to the AA who helped a stranded Alcohol who had car trouble on the way back from the venue, the tyre had a err slight hole in it. Also hi to the sutton lads who hitched a ride home with Alcohol.

St Patricks Day, at the town mill for this GIGGED event, alcohol went on third on a bill that consisted of Driverspoon, Photobooth, Alcohol and PAM. Tony learned a valuable lesson tonight - don't get too drunk before playing. Tony lost his voice the week before this gig and thought a few beers might help... WRONG!
Alcohol included a cover of the Tom Jone's song You Can Leave Your Hat on (from The Full Monty) and then followed that with Something's Gotta Give.
During something's gotta give Tony's voice went completely and Ste took on vocal duties for the remainder of the set starting with Drowning and Alcohol finished the set on their version of Love Machine and Johnny B Goode, the crowd DEMANDED them!!!
Thanks to all the people that came down to see the band, too many to name, but thank you!

Dead & Gone I'm Free (Run Around) Drowning Hate & Hate Is It Real? Somethings Gotta Give Hard To Take You're With Me |
Alcohol played in the new downstairs room at The Frog & Nightgown, which is called the pit! Here is a review from Uzi of Alcohol's set.
Now for something completely different! Alcohol...a punk/indie/pop/80's hair metal band. I have vague memories of these lads being a bit poo back in the day, but over the last year and a half, they've grown into one of my favourite bands on the local circuit. Every song is a catchy number and almost all are different in some way. Although Tony's voice is generally well suited to most of the songs, bass player Ste is harbouring an impressive set of pipes and adds a new dimension to some songs with his different vocal delivery. While not over-complicated technically (the odd nifty solo aside) the set was played flawlessly. Always an enjoyable band to watch with a few beers!

The last gig of 2005 for Alcohol saw the boys at the famous Boat Club venue in Nottingham which has seen the likes of Led Zep and Black Sabbath who both played back in the day.
Time was running short on the night so the band decided to keep to the shortest fastest numbers and churned out all 7 songs in 20 minutes! New songs Drowning and Somethings Gotta Give are settling into the set quite nicely and all the songs seemed to be well received.
Tony was quoted afterwards as saying "Fucking hell i've never so many mistakes in You're With Me", still a good gig though boys! Big Thanks to Saggy Pants for organising the gig!

Alcohol were back at the Frog & Nightgown for the first time since January when they supported Photobooth here. The band were supposed to be playing in June but the gig got cancelled.
The band put their slowest number "I Listen To My Heart Too Much" near the start of the set and then ramped it back up with Hate & Hate and Is It Real?. Then they played a brand new song, so new in fact Tony hasn't quite finished writing the lyrics yet! The song is called "Somethings Gotta Give" and seemed to be well received.
Near the end of the set lead singer Tony started to struggle a bit with his head cold but the boys ended with new song "Drowning" and the two punky songs "Hard To Take" and "You're With Me". Thanks to everyone who came down and thanks to GIGGED who organised the night.

Tonight was the premiere of "20,000 little reasons" a british film which features tracks from unsigned bands, which includes Photobooth who are good friends of Alcohol.
After the film Alcohol played their set and included two new songs. The poppy ballad type "I Listen To My Heart Too Much" and "Drowning" which Ste took lead vocals for and Tony played with his new delay pedal! Alcohol also played T & A which was for Pagey from Photobooth as its his favourite track off the bands new EP "Number 2".

Alcohol played tonight at a GIGGED night with Cerebral Vacation, The Authentics and Monkey Fist. Tonight was a great night with some excellent bands, the crowd was a little thinner than usual but that didn't put any of the bands off tonight.
The boys played a nicely timed set tonight and were pleased with it, they also got the chance to get the ol' acoustic out for that campfire number T & A which broke up the set well and the crowd grooved to. After T & A the crowd had a request for the boys cover of Love Machine by Girls Aloud, so thats what they got!
Thanks to everyone that came out tonight and thanks to the other bands who played such great sets.
Kev from GIGGED did the following review!
"I could be biased with them cos i know em but ive got to admit, that was the best ive seen em play, mixing old favs like claire 2 and Uzi the cigar man's "the riff" song to some of the newer songs, they rocked like fuck. A nice touch was an almost "gomez" acoustic number which broke the set up nicely, to when Tony "singer and lead vox" decided to step on his lead for the guitar and almost Fonz like "heeeeey" calmly plugged her back in and carried on like a pro. (a whore not a professional lol) in one word "excellent"."

This was Alcohol's first gig back for a few months and a great time was had by all, the stage was set up in the centre of town, the weather was sunny and the crowd hung around to listen!
To top the set off the boys convinced some wondering pirates to come and dance to the bands last song, the pirates wanted some pirate music but they had to make do with doing their pirate movements to You're With Me - that'll certainly be a moment the band will never forget!

Alcohol were a last minute replacement at this gig standing in for Diver who dropped out on the day of the gig, Alcohol were asked to play the gig with about 6 hours notice but the boys managed to pull it together and get to the gig.
This was a GIGGED event (see GIGGED for more information), Alcohol already had a GIGGED event in the pipeline which got cancelled so they played this night instead of the one at the frog, this made tonights gig Alcohol's last gig before the band take a bit of a break.
As this was the bands last outing for a while and the band before them on the night played a short set - Alcohol threw a few older songs into the set including I'm In Pain which the band hadn't played for a while.

Well seeing as it was a party Alcohol arrived on stage to some strange church hymn music dressed as nuns. Ste and Tony donned nuns outfits whilst Cory dressed as a priest.
Alcohol kicked off the set with Break Down with some technical problems with Tonys guitar but Emma from the smears and the sound dude sorted out the problem whilst Alcohol played on. Next up was Hate & Hate started by Sister Mercy (Ste).
Next song up is the boys infamous cover of Love Machine by Girls Aloud, Tony announced that they tonight were Nuns Aloud and ripped into the song, and followed it with Johnny Be Goode with Ste on vocals. Alcohol ended their set with Hard To Take and You're With Me.
Alcohol had a great time tonight, the crowd seemed to appreciate it and whilst it wasn't the boys most polished performance we think it was the most entertaining that Alcohol have ever been. Also tonights set was 25 minutes and the boys managed to rip through it in 21 minutes, no wonder they were all knackered!
Thanks to Glen for filming the gig - maybe some of the footage will be available online at some point!

Be Hate & Hate Is It Real? I'm Free (Run Around) You're With Me |
Alcohol finally got to play at the Festival Hall tonight with their battle of the bands heat against local metal legands Acid Pope and new band 10 Bob Slot featuring Stan from Bo-Diesel.
With a 5 song limit, Alcohol decided to rearrange their set, opting for a mix of older songs and new songs. Alcohol were the first band on the night and the crowd were attentive and Alcohol loved playing it, with Tony and Ste making sure they covered most of the stage on the night.
As usual with Alcohol's battle of the bands heats - it was a tough one and the boys didn't make it through this time, but they loved playing and hope to be back at the Festival Hall sometime soon!
Big thanks to the Alcoholettes for coming down once again!

Break Down Hate & Hate Love Machine Be Is It Real? Hard To Take I'm Free (Run Around) You're With Me |
Alcohol kicked off the third day of the Mills Easterfest at 5.45 with Breakdown. Tony tonight was sporting a massive hangover which was sponsored by local metal legands Acid Pope. After a dodgy start on guitar, Tony woke up for Hate & Hate. The band followed that with their cover of the Girls Aloud song Love Machine - which Tony dedicated to Acid Pope. Afterwards Acid Pope asked Alcohol never to play it again - sorry but it'll be on the set list for April 10th!!!
The new song "Is It Real?" made it into tonights set sandwiched between Be and Hard To Take, and after only a few practices with the completed song the band pulled it off without a hitch!
Alcohol ended their set with their two fastest songs I'm Free and You're With Me, with the drumkit falling to pieces on stage - still its not called rock n roll for nothing!

Alcohol's first gig in over 2 months brought Alcohol back to the Old Angel in Nottingham alongside The Darwin Theory, Our Last Confession and Abiotic.
The crowd were very muted tonight, but Alcohol played their set and even threw in their cover of Love Machine by Girls Aloud, which the band is starting to enjoy playing just a bit too much, expect it to be played at future shows too!
Thanks to Rich from Our Last Confession for organising the gig and Abiotic for letting us use their amps!

Wow two gigs in two nights, this was the 2nd and last night of the mini tour with Photobooth, and Alcohol were playing a venue they didn't know anything about.
Alcohol tonight decided to play some more new material and dropped the covers for the night. The first new song was Be - a cracking new song that mixes acoustic and distorted sounds with a bouncing bass line in the verse, the second new one is a punkier tune called Hard To Take which at just about 1 minute and a half is the shortest Alcohol song to date!
The set started slow and built up as it progressed and the crowd seemed to warm to the band towards the end of the set!
This was a really enjoyable night, the regulars were supportive and the sound was good, we would definately recommend this place to people - they certainly seem to be having a lot of good bands on over the next couple of months!
Thanks again to Photobooth for inviting us down, and the free badges! You guys rock and Alcohol will always be up for future Photobooth/Alcohol gigs!

Alcohols first headlining night at the Town Mill saw the band playing alongside bands which Alcohol had asked to play, their good friends Photobooth, Felicity Kicks and Weeble. The mill was packed out which was good to see for the first weekend of the new year. Ska Punk band weeble went on first and played a blinding set, and we thought they fantastic and was a cracking start to the night.
Felicity Kicks provided some solid rocking next and Photobooth followed, both bands playing awesome sets. Alcohol went up last of the night, and kicked off the set with Break Down which warmed the room up for one of the bands favourites Hate & Hate.
Alcohol then threw in a new song for the new year, their ode to strippers T & A (Tits & Ass), Tony switched to acoustic for this one and announced to the room that it was a song to sing around a campfire! Tony introduced the next song by simply saying "This is a cover... you'll know what it is!" and the band played Love Machine by Girls Aloud, well their version of it anyhow!
Alcohol ended the night with Johnny B Goode and You're With Me which ended the set off nicely, however the crowd were having none of it and demanded the band return for one more song. Always happy to carry on playing - Alcohol kicked into I'm Free with Tony nearly introducing it as You're With Me!
This was a great night and helped raise money for the Tsunami appeal it kicked off a month of events at the mill and at the end of the month all the donations will be given to the charity! Thanks to everyone that came and made the night special!

Alcohol back at the Ritz for the Final of the Band of The Year competition.
Seeing as it was the final, it was christmas and it was Alcohol's last gig of the year, the band decided to dress up tonight. Tony dressed as a gringo, Ste donned his Santa outfit and Cory went as Joey (the drummer from Slipknot), the crowd didn't quite know what to make of the band!
Bit of a weird one this was, the final was broadcast live on radio, and the event was well publicised and quite packed out inside, but the radio kept leaving the live stuff and playing other songs instead (for example Breakdown was interrupted and "Alright" by Supergrass was played instead). This was annoying for the listeners who had tuned in for the event and frustrating for the bands.
Alcohol cut the set short tonight because of time limitations (the band was told to make sure they finish on time as they were first on), but all in all the band really enjoyed playing. They had a good supportive crowd, the alcoholettes turned out including new members Ryan, Karley and Katie.
The other bands that night are as follows.
The Reckoning. Heavyish 70s style rock band with no stage presence and a very poor vocalist, definately the worst band of the night in our and other peoples opinions (including one of the judges who Alcohol spoke to afterwards).
Wickwar. Kinda soulful pop band, very talented vocalist (if not a little over the top at times) but very well played, excellent stage presence and soulful vocals. Music seemed to get a bit similar after a few songs, but very well done.
Rankin Steady. Mansfields premier ska band, played an excellent set getting the crowd up and dancing for the end of the night. Rankin Steady are an excellent band who know how to entertain the crowd, with perhaps the best bongo player we've ever seen!
Alcohol placed themselves third in the competition with the winner being a close call between Rankin Steady and Wickwar, however the judges had an entirely different opinion!
4th. Alcohol
3rd. Rankin Steady
2nd. Wickwar
1st. The Reckoning
Well we don't understand it, the other bands didn't understand it, the crowd boo'ed, the judges were accused of being fucking deaf by one of the bands. All of the people we spoke to had placed The Reckoning at 4th place. We feel bad for Wickwar who deserved to win the competition, and am sorry to hear that the competition was so poorly judged. We won't be entering again.

Alcohol back at the Ritz for the Semi Finals of the Band of The Year competition.
Alcohol changed the usual set around tonight putting the more upbeat songs in the middle of the set and starting off with Love Drug for a change, which ended up being a lot faster than usual as the band settled into their set. Break down followed which was nice and rockier than usual. The usual set opener Alone was next and the band hit their stride here with Claire 2 following. The band then played their 3 favourite songs Hate & Hate, I'm Free and You're With Me. Finishing off with Johnny Be Goode with Ste on vocals and then I'm In Pain.
The sound was quite good tonight with the on stage sound being a lot better than last time we played and this made for a much more enjoyable gig and the band really enjoyed playing tonight, Tony struggled a bit vocally - still recovering from his cold from the previous week, but all in all a good set and a good gig.
Good luck to the other bands who played tonight including the great I Fly (iFly?) who Alcohol think could win the competition. The songs are played on Monday 6th December on radio Mansfield 103 from 2pm, please tune in and vote for who you think sounded the best!

Alcohols first gig in Nottingham in four years! Alcohol were playing alongside Bad Habit and Felicity Kicks.
Alcohol really enjoyed this gig with a good crowd of friends supporting us. Tony battled through the night sporting a head cold and sore throat, but with enough beer and ice water he managed to get through the set! Alcohol also decided it was about time they tried the new song "You're With Me" again after a not so impressive performance of it a few months previous - this time they cracked it, and some members of the crowd said it was their favourite song of the night! Excellent!
Hopefully this will be the first of many gigs in notts and judging from tonight we can't wait to come back!
Thanks to Dale for taking some piccies for us, and thanks to all the crowd for turning up - you are all fantastic!

Heat one of the Ritz "Band of the year", Alcohol played alongside Big Green Sofa and Vespa.
Bit of a weird one this, the set was recorded and three tracks were sent to Mansfield 103, who will then broadcast 1 of the three songs for a public vote. It sounds a very interesting idea but unforuanately didn't make for an interesting gig. The sounds levels were set to optimise the sound of the recording which meant almost no sound on stage and so-so sound out front for the audience, meaning all three bands had a hard time of it as they couldn't hear themselves very well.
Alcohol opened the night and played ok considering the problems, they threw in the Offspring song Gone Away which they hasn't played for a while and ended on "I'm In Pain", they don't know which song yet will be played on the radio but Alcohol expect it to be either "Hate & Hate", "Johnny Be Goode" or "I'm Free (Run Around)". Tony had to restart Johnny Be Goode after screwing up the intro - he stopped the band and said "hang on hang on i can do better than that!", and yes it was better the second time!
The song will be played on Monday the 11th October on Ian Watkins show - please tune in and vote if you can!
Thanks to Big Green Sofa for letting us use their kit AND their amps, you guys rock! Thanks again to our good friend Pagey for turning up to support us too!!!

Alcohol back at the battle of the bands at the Mill, 1 year on from their "comeback" gig at last years battle.
Alcohol were lucky enough to be drawn against two bands who they already know and get along with really well (Photobooth and Joshua's Tuma), which makes a nice change and takes the "battle" aspect out of the equation! The third band was 3 Gun Pete a punk band from Loughborough way.
Alcohol opened the night and were lucky enough to get the main sound check, and play a 20 minute set which seemed to go down quite well.
Alcohol didn't end up going through to the next round, but their good friends Photobooth and Joshua's Tuma did - so best of luck to them in the quarters!! All in all this was a good gig, with a good crowd, and some cracking performances - certainly one of the best heats so far in the BOTB 2004 - the only downer of the night is that someone had to lose, if this was just a normal gig then it would have been even better! Hopefully Alcohol will be seen again alongside the Tuma and Booth boys!

Alcohol headlined this charity gig at the Workpeoples Inn in Huthwaite on the back of a truck!!!
After a day full of bands and in the freezing cold Alcohol got onto truck (well we'd say stage but truck sounds so much more rock n roll!!) shortly before 10pm, Alex the organiser decided Alcohol should headline as the main headline act (an REM tribute) let him down, so Alcohol stepped up.
Alcohol kept the set similar to the last one from the Townmill gig but added Claire 2 and the Pearl Jam song I Am Mine (removing You're With Me). The set went well despite the cold conditions and the crowd were supportive!!
Right time for the thanks...
